4.6. mkfs - Extended Attributes

Specify the version of extended attribute inline allocation policy to be used.

Version 1 has fixed regions for attribute and extent data
Version 2 (default) uses a more efficient algorithm for managing the available inline inode space
Version 1 inodes are automatically converted to version 2 on the fly

To force the use of version two extended attributes you would use:

mkfs.xfs -i attr=2 device
